Privacy

The short version: no account, no camera, no ads, and the words you type are never stored.

What stays on your device

Your browser keeps a random ID, the nickname and cap color made from it, and the link that first brought you here. It lives in local storage, not in a cookie. We don’t use cookies at all.

What we record

Short, anonymous events tied to that random ID, so we can tell whether Swim To It actually helps:

We can’t connect these events to your name. We never ask for it.

What you type

The task you name goes to our server and on to Anthropic’s Claude API to write your first step. We don’t save it, and our event log refuses any field holding the task or the step. Under its commercial API terms, Anthropic does not train models on this text by default.

During a wave

Other swimmers in the same wave see your nickname, cap color and whether you’re waiting or swimming. That’s shared live and isn’t saved. Nobody sees your task.

If you leave your email

We store the email, the pass you picked, and your random ID. We use it to tell you when the pool opens and what it costs. We don’t sell it, share it for advertising, or add you to anything else.

Who helps us run it

Our step service also counts requests per IP address for one minute, in memory, to stop abuse. There are no ad networks or third-party trackers on this site.

How long we keep it

Events are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Your email stays until you ask us to remove it or the waitlist closes.

Your choices

Make this browser forget you. It clears the ID and everything Swim To It kept here. Events already recorded stay anonymous and can no longer be linked to this browser.

To remove your email, write to us from that address and we’ll delete it within 30 days. We don’t sell or share personal information as California law defines it.

Children

Swim To It is for adults. It isn’t meant for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and email the waitlist.
